Christmas memories

Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Vase of Flowers, 1886

During the caregiving years with my mother, I loved keeping fresh flowers on her dresser.  They were simple bouquets that I bought at the grocery store, when I shopped on Sundays for her and family.  Her vase is now in this room, where I write.  It took time, but grief healed, and my memories are peaceful.  Love grows forever.

Christmas carnations
in the vase
that used to hold
fresh flowers for Mom
each in turn
to bless us
