short poems for robins

robins

a cold week

ice floats in the water

yet the light is changing

and robins will return

on time

This haiku is from last May:

sun-warmth
and letting my mind rest
robins teach me their song

These are two of my first haiku,
published in PEGASUS in 1994:

A few petunias
snapdragons, gold and white mums
the robins are gone.

Holding in my heart
as days become cold and dark
robins will return.
