these winds

My Journal Poems

these winds
the second half of July
say that summer is full

and they will gently turn
the pages of each day
one by one

to August . . .

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118: 24 (KJV)

old friends
sit at a table
and put puzzles
together

they sort and place
what they can
leave the rest to God

I wrote this poem for a doodle by Aubrie Cox in 2014.

My poem reflects the time I spent in nursing homes, with my mother and as a volunteer.
